This special project will involve collecting and storing the blood of family members with gastroesophageal cancer. Dr. Ajani and his team have engaged an epidemiology expert to finalize a lifestyle questionnaire (which will be in the format of an online module). The goal is to collect 5,000 cases and at least 1,000 controls. This seed grant will bridge a larger scale initiative estimated at over $1M as the project seeks to expand to include critical studies of the blood. Dr. Ajani will be applying for grant funding using the early quantitative research data to determine the project scope and to validate the overall impact of the study.
