The Fight Continues in New Directions

With Heartfelt Gratitude for Ten Years

Dear Stupid Strong Supporters,

With a mix of deep gratitude and heavy hearts, we write to share the news that Stupid Strong will begin the process of winding down its operations, with a full conclusion expected in 2025. This decision was not made lightly and comes after careful consideration of our organization’s sustainability, the evolving landscape of support for gastric cancer advocacy and our commitment to responsibly stewarding the legacy of our mission.

Over the past decade, Stupid Strong has been privileged to support research, raise awareness, and provide advocacy for gastric cancer patients and their families. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our partners, we have distributed $1.6 million to institutions and programs that advance the fight against gastric cancer, including: University of Texas at MD Anderson, City of Hope, Baylor Scott & White Foundation, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Olivia Newton-John Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Health.

Together, we have worked tirelessly to educate and empower individuals, fund groundbreaking research and drive progress in the understanding and treatment of this disease.

While this chapter is coming to an end, we are proud of the meaningful impact we’ve achieved together. The legacy of Stupid Strong will live on in the work of the institutions we’ve supported and in the lives we’ve touched. To ensure that our mission continues in spirit, we will work diligently to transition our remaining efforts and resources to like-minded organizations aligned with our vision.

To our donors, partners and community: We extend our deepest appreciation for your unwavering support. Your belief in our mission and your commitment to our cause have been the driving forces behind every milestone we’ve reached. Together, we have truly made a difference.

To our leadership and all who have served alongside us: Thank you for your passion, vision and dedication. Your tireless efforts have created a lasting impact in the fight against gastric cancer.

Though our operations will soon conclude, we encourage you to continue supporting organizations doing vital work in this space. Please visit our website for a list of recommended organizations continuing the fight against gastric cancer.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. It has been an honor to stand with you in creating hope, change, and progress.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Jeff Netzer, President
and the Board of Directors, Stupid Strong

Help us fulfill our final commitment and honoring the legacy of Candace and countless others.

Donate this month to fund our “Cancer Patient’s Family Matters” study aimed at unraveling the mysteries behind the hereditary nature of gastric cancer and developing strategies for early detection and prevention.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to fulfilling one of our most important projects: the Family Matters initiative at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This program has been central to our mission of supporting families affected by gastric cancer — and it is our priority to see it through to completion.

We are $50,000 away from fully meeting our pledge — and we need your help to reach this final milestone. Every dollar raised will go directly toward ensuring that the Family Matters project continues to provide critical support, resources and hope to those who need it most.

Your generosity over the past decade has made incredible things possible, and with your support, we can complete this meaningful chapter of our work. Contributions of any size will bring us closer to our goal and leave a lasting impact on the families served by this program.

Thank you for standing with us — for believing in our mission and for making a difference. Together, we can ensure that the legacy of Stupid Strong continues to touch lives, even as we prepare to close this chapter.
